BMU STRATEGIC PLAN DRAFTING COMMITTEE (SPDC) FORMALLY PRESENTS THE FIRST DRAFT OF THE UNIVERSITY’S STRATEGIC PLAN TO THE VICE-CHANCELLOR AFTER MONTHS OF INTENSIVE WORK
The Committee, led by its Chairman, Dr. Guagha Micky Berezi, submitted copies of the draft document to the VC following a rigorous process that involved brainstorming sessions, consultations, strong teamwork and drafting. Presenting the document, Dr. Berezi noted that the draft reflects the collective ideas, insights, and commitment of the committee toward building a clear and practical roadmap for the growth and development of the University.
The Strategic Planning Drafting Committee set up on the 10th of January 2026 and mandated to develop the first Strategic Plan of BMU providing a clear institutional vision, mission, strategic priorities, and an implementation framework to guide the University’s academic, administrative, research, and community engagement activities over the next five years. The Committee’s work would be based on a review of national and international benchmarks for university strategic planning, the University’s vision, mission, core values, and strategic objectives, the strategic pillars, goals, key performance indicators, implementation timelines, and monitoring frameworks, and strategic recommendations of the ASPIRE Teams.
The membership of the Strategic Plan Drafting Committee is constituted of seasoned professionals with a clear understanding of the task at hand. They are:

2. Prof. Dennis Alagoa, Prof of Gynaiechology, former Medical Director FMC Yenagoa, Provost College of Health Sciences Fed Univ of Otuoke, Director Advancement and Linkages -Member
3. Prof. (Mrs.) Chidinma Daokore-Olukole- BMU Director, Academic Planning - Member
4. Prof. Conrad Asotie Omonhinmin- Professor at Covenant University, Director Centre for Research, Innovation and Discovery and Dean of the School of Postgraduate Studies. Biostatistician. - Consultant
5. Mr. Kingsley Fobiri-Head of Department Audio-Visual-Member
6. Mr. Prince Ere Jones - Member of the Secretariat Team
7. Ms. Blessing Ogbara- Member of the Secretariat Team
8. Dr. (Mrs.) Marie Teibowei- Pioneer Director IFL-BT, Special Assistant to the VC, Public Relations Officer-Secretary
Receiving the document, the VC thanked the committee for their dedication and hard work throughout the drafting process. He commended the members for their commitment to the assignment and for successfully producing the first draft within the set timeline. He noted that the submission will be followed by a review by the VC, Management, Senate and Council to have a comprehensive strategic framework that will guide the University’s growth and transformation in the next 5 years.
