BAYELSA MEDICAL UNIVERSITY STUDENTS BEGIN SIWES TRAINING
The Department of Human Nutrition and Dietetics, Bayelsa Medical University (BMU), officially commences the Student Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES) for its 300 Level students, marking a significant milestone in the department. A total of sixteen (16) students are participating in the industrial training exercise aimed at equipping them with practical knowledge, professional exposure, and hands-on experience in the field of Human Nutrition and Dietetics. Speaking on the development, the Head of Department, Dr. Mary Donald-Ase, describes the commencement of the SIWES programme as a major step in strengthening practical learning and professional competence among students of the department. Also present were the Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, Dr. Gift Timighe Cornelius; the SIWES Coordinator, Prof. Wadioni Aduema; and Assistant Lecturer, Ojochegbe Joy Alikali, who encourage the students to make the most of the opportunity by demonstrating professionalism, discipline, and commitment throughout the exercise. The SIWES programme forms part of Bayelsa Medical University’s commitment to producing highly skilled healthcare professionals through quality academic and practical training.
