Bayelsa Medical University Hosts Members of the House Committee on Education of the Bayelsa State House Assembly on Courtesy Visit

Bayelsa Medical University (BMU) on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, received members of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly on a courtesy visit to the university's Yenagoa campus.
The Vice-Chancellor welcomed the delegation, which included Hon. Dr Daniel Charles, Hon. Wisdom Fafi, Hon. Chief Brigidi I. Edward, Hon. Ayonatiminyo Omubo, Hon. Chief (Mrs) Elbizi Cockeye R. Brown, and Mebine Amaebi Rexford.
During the visit, the lawmakers commended the remarkable growth and transformation of the university, noting the rapid completion of projects and the institution’s impressive developmental strides within a short period.
In his remarks, the Vice-Chancellor expressed appreciation to the Governor of Bayelsa State, His Excellency Senator Douye Diri, for his unwavering commitment and support to the university. He highlighted the Governor’s pivotal role in advancing the institution through investments in academic programmes, research, infrastructure, and student development, which have continued to strengthen BMU’s reputation and institutional ranking.
The Vice Chancellor also drew attention to key areas requiring additional support, including improved power supply, expanded classroom and laboratory facilities, student hostels, human resource development, and digital infrastructure to meet the demands of the university's growing population.
The delegation acknowledged the university's progress, applauded the leadership of the Vice-Chancellor, and reaffirmed their appreciation for the Bayelsa State Government’s commitment to the vision and growth of Bayelsa Medical University.
The visit concluded with a guided tour of the Yenagoa campus, where the delegation inspected several completed and ongoing infrastructure projects across the university.
