THE NIGERIAN CONTENT DEVELOPMENT AND MONITORING BOARD (NCDMB) COMMISSIONED THE NEWLY UPGRADED CLINICAL SKILLS LABORATORY AT THE BAYELSA MEDICAL UNIVERISTY, YENAGOA.
The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) commissioned the newly upgraded Clinical Skills Laboratory at Bayelsa Medical University (BMU), Yenagoa. Represented by the Director of Planning, Research and Statistics, Mr. Ene Ette, the Executive Secretary described the project as a deliberate investment in human capital and a practical example of policy translating into measurable impact. The state-of-the-art simulation centre provides a zero-risk environment for training and features a Virtual Reality Station, Paediatric and Airway Management Stations, ECG and Patient Monitoring, IV Fluids Administration and Cannulation, Vital Signs and Catheterization Stations, alongside a Demonstration Hall. The Executive Governor of Bayelsa State, Sen. Douye Diri, represented by the Commissioner for Education, Dr. Gentle Emelah, joined the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dimie Ogoina, and members of the university leadership to celebrate the milestone. In his remarks, the Vice-Chancellor noted that the commissioning is not merely the unveiling of a facility, but a bold step toward securing the future of healthcare in Bayelsa, the Niger Delta, and Nigeria. He highlighted that the laboratory brings the University’s A.S.P.I.R.E. Agenda to life by advancing Academic Excellence through hands-on simulation training, driving Innovation & Technology with modern digital medical tools, and strengthening Partnerships & Engagement through strategic collaboration with NCDMB and the Bayelsa State Government. He expressed profound gratitude to both partners for their unwavering support, while charging faculty and students to make responsible and impactful use of the facility in the service of patient safety and healthcare advancement.
