ASPIRE AGENDA ON THE MOVE: BMU, DIGITAL VICE-CHANCELLOR, PROF. DIMIE OGOINA(Time 100 Honoree) AND MANAGEMENT PAY CONDOLENCE VISIT TO THE ISENAH FAMILY.
The Vice Chancellor of Bayelsa Medical University (BMU), Professor Dimie Ogoina (Time 100 Honoree), alongside Principal Officers and members of Management, on Thursday, April 2, 2026, paid a condolence visit to Rt. Hon. Tonye Emmanuel Isenah, (former speaker of the State House Assembly and Director Housing Company) and the Isenah Family over the passing of their beloved father Papa Emmanuel Isenah. The visit was also extended to Mrs. Peremo Opiah Isenah, a staff member of the Bayelsa Medical University and Secretary to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor in charge of Sampou Campus, and the JUPEP Programme, who is the daughter of the deceased and younger sister to Rt. Hon. Tonye Emmanuel Isenah. The Vice Chancellor was accompanied by Prof. Goodwill Ziriki, Deputy Vice Chancellor, Sampou Campus; Prof. Philip Eyimina, Provost, College of Medicine; Prof. Isaac Abassi, Head of Department, Clinical Sciences; Dr. Tombra Eneware, Deputy Registrar (Council Affairs); Mr. Clarkson Ikati, General Administration, Sampou Campus; Dr. Mrs. Marie Teibowei, Special Adviser to the Vice Chancellor/PRO; and Mr. Lucky Imbasi, PAVC/Protocol Officer. The delegation departed from the University’s Administrative Block to the family residence, where they were warmly received by Rt. Hon. Tonye Emmanuel Isenah. Also present were his wife, Mrs. Blessing Isenah, his Aunt Dame Notoro Patricia Isenah, his younger brother Mr. Preye Isenah, and the family MC Mr. Poyere, alongside extended family members, and friends of the Isenah family. Speaking during the visit, the Vice Chancellor expressed profound sympathy on behalf of the University community, noting that the loss is deeply felt not only by the family but also by the University, given the close ties with Mrs. Peremo Opiah Isenah. The Vice Chancellor offered prayers for the repose of the deceased and strength for the family during this period of grief. In their response, members of the Isenah family expressed appreciation to the Vice Chancellor and his team, stating that they were deeply pleased with the visit and grateful for the thoughtful gesture and solidarity shown by the University. The visit reflects Bayelsa Medical University’s enduring commitment to compassion, unity, and institutional support for its staff and stakeholders in times of need. Once more, the University extends heartfelt condolences over to the Isenahs over the passing of their dear father, may his soul rest in peace!
