ROTARY CLUB OF OX-BOW LAKE COMMISSIONS 10,000-LITRE SOLAR-POWERED CLEAN WATER PROJECT AT BAYELSA MEDICAL UNIVERSITY

Commissioning of the Modern Water Project by the Rotary Club of Ox-Bow
In a significant demonstration of its commitment to sustainable community development, the Rotary Club of Ox-Bow Lake on Tuesday, 30 June 2026, officially commissioned and handed over a 10,000-litre-capacity solar-powered clean water project to Bayelsa Medical University (BMU), Yenagoa.
The project, led by the President of the Rotary Club of Ox-Bow Lake, Rtn. Patrick Tamara, is designed to provide the university community with a reliable and sustainable source of clean water. Powered entirely by solar energy, the facility eliminates the need for manual operation, significantly reduces operational costs, and promotes long-term sustainability.

The project also represents a significant milestone in Bayelsa Medical University’s ongoing ASPIRE transformation agenda, strengthening infrastructure that directly enhances the welfare of students, staff, and visitors. As a sustainable investment in the university community, the project stands as one of the institution’s notable developmental achievements.
The Rotary Club of Ox-Bow Lake expressed profound appreciation to Rotary International District 9141 for its grant support, as well as to its partners, club members, and all stakeholders whose collective efforts made the project a reality.
The commissioning serves as a fitting conclusion to the “Create Lasting Impact” Rotary Year, reflecting Rotary’s vision of delivering projects that continue to transform lives long after their completion. By providing sustainable access to clean water, the initiative will leave a lasting legacy within the Bayelsa Medical University community.
